Denmark’s nationwide WiMAX network will use Carrier Ethernet Switch Routers (CESR) made by Israel-based ECI Telecom.
Danish utilities firm ELRO Amba has chosen ECI’s SR9700 series of CESRs for its soon to be installed WiMAX network.
The SR9700 CESRs will allow ELRO Amba to support the latest Ethernet and IP services.
ECI has designed the SR9700 to meet the demands of busy urban networks where density, performance, efficiency, resilience and quality of service are vital.
Søren Møller, CTO Broadband at ELRO, said his company chose ECI’s routers because of ECI’s ‘vast experience’ in transport networking, and because ELRO believes that the SR9700 offers the level of performance needed to build a fully optimized network with flexible bandwidth and multiple connectivity.
Rafi Maor, President and CEO at ECI, said his company is ‘looking forward’ to working with ELRO in its transition to next generation networks.
Stan Hubbard, a senior analyst at Heavy Reading, said ELRO’s choice of ECI shows that ECI was right to enter the $2 billion market for Carrier Ethernet Switches and Routing, and can expect future success in the market.
The SR9700 series of CESRs is part of ECI’s 9000 Family.
The 9000 Family is at the core of ECI’s 1Net business framework, which focuses on the unique combination of functional network equipment, fully integrated solutions, and a suite of professional services with high levels of customer support.
