Pylons
Tim held a very well attended meeting in Bildeston in October 2009 at which he was able to gauge the strength of local opinion on National Grid's proposals. He has also received hundreds of letters and email on this issue.
On 11 January, Tim attended a meeting at Westminster with Sir Alan Haselhurst MP, Brooks Newmark MP and National Grid, where he raised his concern that there has been no independent costing of placing cables underground and inadequate consideration of alternatives to the current proposals from National Grid.
He also stressed the scepticism of many people that technology that dates from a couple of generations ago is planned for use in a project which is planned to last until almost the end of this century.
