HSL, or Hay Systems Ltd, have announced details of a development project they have embarked on, the 2.75G Femtocell.
Details have been released by HSL, which include the physical appearance of the product, which they hope will be available late 2016, the managed femtocell network.
The announcement comes at the later stages of the development, with the 2.75G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) femtocell now having its wholesale pricing confirmed as USD 350 for 1000 units.
HSL will be offering supporting network elements, which will include Base Station Controller (BSC), Mobile Switching Centre (MSC) and femtocell Security Gateway.
With wholesale orders of over 1,000 by consumers, HSL will offer mobile network operators with the supporting network elements, and this will cost the consumer nothing.
HSL originally showcased the design and basics of the product at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in February 2016, which was held Barcelona.
Network operators are able to fully deploy and fully operate units and supporting network infrastructure, or HSL have offered the option of managed femtocell network service where HSL would be responsible for the management of the femtocell network.
As previously mentioned, HSL, hope the femtocell will be ready late 2016, with the GSM-only version being released first, and the GSM/GPRS/EDGE version, shortly after, with the bulk shipments commencing early 2017.
