Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services, today announced the availability of the Hughes 9350 BGAN mobile satellite terminal, fully type-approved for operation over Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) satellite service.
Ideal for vehicular applications in the most demanding environments, the Hughes 9350 offers high-performance connectivity at data rates of up to 400 kbps and is the most cost-effective device of its kind on the market.
“Hughes is excited to launch a product that builds upon our extensive knowledge of mobile satellite systems,” said Graham Avis, vice president and general manager of Hughes San Diego.
“As the successor to our field-proven 9250 BGAN terminal, the Hughes 9350 delivers a range of advanced features, including a Wi-Fi hot spot on wheels while operating in parallel with data, voice, and messaging services, anywhere under the Inmarsat BGAN footprint.”
The Hughes 9350 enables multiple users to send and receive IP packet data via Ethernet, USB and WLAN interfaces in a land-vehicular application.
In parallel with the packet data services, the terminal supports circuit switched RJ-11 voice or fax calls and full ISDN support.
Installed and ready for use in minutes, the Hughes 9350 offers selectable Quality of Service levels that enables streaming data to co-exist with other services.
That allows end users, such as first responders and other field personnel, to collaborate with staff back at headquarters, using video, voice, and data simultaneously.
