Taiwanese 3G provider Vibo expects to double revenues, WiMAX provider Fitel seeks investment

January 29, 2016

Taiwanese 3G provider Vibo Telecom is projecting revenues for 2016 of NT$5.9 billion (US$182 million), which is twice their NT$2.94 billion revenues for 2015. Vito is expecting its number of current 3G subscribers to increase by 600,000 to a total of over 1.2 million. It will increase its number of 3G base stations from 4,000 to 5,050 by the end of the year, and expects to procure between 500,000 and 600,000 handsets.

Meanwhile, First International Telecom (Fitel), the only operator of the personal handy-phone system (PHS) in Taiwan – as well as being a licensee for WiMAX in the northern region of the country – is seeking investment from abroad. In total, it hopes for investments to total US$60 million. The company knows of a number of overseas investors who are currently performing the due diligence checks, and expects them to make their decisions as early as March.
