Vodafone UK scraps international roaming fees

Vodafone UK scraps international roaming fees

May 15, 2017

Mobile operator Vodafone has scrapped roaming charges in 35 countries this summer, so holidaymakers will be able to make calls and send texts abroad at UK prices.

Tourists visiting countries such as Australia, Cyprus or Iceland will be able to call home for as little as five pence per minute on PAYG, or using their allowance of free minutes if they’re on a pay monthly tariff.

The announcement comes ahead of EU legislation that will reduce roaming costs across Europe from 1 July.

Vodafone’s mobile broadband customers will still incur roaming charges for downloading data overseas.

The offer starts on 1 June and will last for three months.

Vodafone customers can sign up for the offer by texting ‘Passport’ to 97888 if they pay monthly, or to 2345 if they use PAYG.

Countries included in the promotion are: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Channel Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroes, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Monaco, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Vatican City, New Zealand, and Australia.

Vodafone also announced that it will be reducing the cost of international calls made from within the UK.
