Qualcomm work with Mio and HTC on product development

February 18, 2016

Qualcomm is hoping to leverage its QST- and Snapdragon-series chipsets by working alongside a number of Taiwan-based companies to develop new mobile consumer products. New products resulting from the co-operations are expected to be released in the second half of 2016.

Luis Pineda, senior vice president of marketing and product management at Qualcomm CSMA Technologies (QCT), said that the QST-series of chipsets, which includes the QST 1000, the QST 1100 and the QST 1105, offer functions with strong merits in both the consumer market, and other mobile communications markets.

Mio Technology, a Taiwan-based company, is currently working on connected PND products that use Qualcomm’s QST-series chipsets. According to Pineda, Mio is likely to be one of the first vendors to launch QST-based PND products.

High Tech Computer (HTC) is working with Qualcomm to develop products that use the Snapdragon chipsets. The Snapdragon chipsets will be launched at the 2016 Computex trade fair in June.
