MediaTek and CTTL to co-operate on TD-SCDMA

Shares in MediaTek jumped 5.26% today, following reports that it has signed a strategic alliance agreement with China Telecommunication Technology Labs (CTTL).

Mobile phone testing laboratory CTTL is part of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Under the agreement, the two firms will work together to promote the TD-SCDMA 3G standard.

Analysts expect the alliance to help MediaTek gain orders from major international vendors.
