Buffalo releases Powerline LAN solution

July 19, 2015

Buffalo Technology, a global provider of networking solutions, has released a 200Mbps UPA-compliant Powerline Ethernet Modem (PL-UDP-L1) and kit (PL-UDP-L1/S).

Buffalo’s solution allows home users to interlink media devices such as PCs and HDTVs over their home’s existing AC electrical wiring system.

The modem and kit, which comply with the Universal Powerline Association’s (UPA) Digital Home Standard, run on 200 Mbps powerline chips provided by DS2, a world leading supplier of networking technology.

The desktop system connects network-enabled devices on the home network, allowing users to easily transfer and share HD video, data and music files throughout their house.

The solution also provides Internet-connectivity to IPTV broadband television services and online gaming platforms such as Xbox360 and PS3.

Buffalo’s Powerline LAN solution is an effective alternative to traditional Ethernet installation, eliminating the need to drill holes or lay new cabling.

The Ethernet modem and kit will be available from mid-August in retail stores in Japan.
