O2 launches high-speed, low-cost broadband

Network operator O2 has launched a new broadband product with a killer combination: low price and high speed.

O2 mobile customers are being offered 20Mbps fixed line broadband for a recession busting £9.79 per month.

This makes it the cheapest high speed broadband service in the UK, and it comes without a download limit.

Also included in the price are 200 web texts per month, McAfee security software for up to three computers, and a free wireless router.

Non-O2 customers pay an additional £4.89 per month on a minimum 12 month contract.

A Pro package is also available, which offers the same service with increased upload speed of up to 2.5Mbps, and a static IP address.

Pro costs £17.13 per month for O2 customers, or £22.02 for new customers.

Before installing the service, O2 performs a speed check on the customer’s phone line to determine the maximum possible download speed achievable.
