Post Office launches broadband service

The Post Office, a subsidiary of Royal Mail, has expanded its telecoms services with broadband internet access for the home.

The company is offering a standalone broadband service with 8-Mbps of bandwidth for £9.95 per month, including DSL modem rental.

Customers can upgrade to an enhanced version for £15.95 per month, which includes a wireless router, security suite, and parental controls.

The Post Office is also offering a Premium broadband and telephony bundle for £21.95 per month.

This includes basic DSL and fixed-line telephone service, with free evening and weekend calls to other landlines.

For an extra £4 a month, enhanced broadband features can be added to the package.

The Post Office is aiming to attract people not yet connected to broadband, by offering a straightforward and easy to understand service.

It also hopes to attract customers away from other providers, and the launch is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the minimum rental period of a ‘free broadband’ offer from Carphone Warehouse.

The Post Office could pick up some Carphone Warehouse customers looking to move elsewhere when the offer ends.
